Lamia Funti is the Founder, Owner, and Executive Chef of Lamia’s Fish Market, a multisensory experience celebrating Mediterranean seafood cuisine in a brilliant East Village setting.
Born in Spain and raised in Morocco, Lamia’s love for cooking flourished at a young age. Lamia first studied Political Sciences and Law while singing Opera in Paris, but quickly moved to New York after that to pursue her passion for food and launch her career as a restaurateur. With over 20 years of culinary experience, Lamia attended the International Cooking School in New York City and now owns and operates a robust portfolio of restaurants throughout New York, and internationally, including Lamia’s Fish Market, Mykonos Bleu, Le Souk, Omar’s Kitchen and most recently opened a high end seafood restaurant on 5th avenue called Skorpios. All of Lamia’s restaurants are a success and landmarks in the hospitality and New York nightlife scene.
Most recently, Lamia Funti opened a hotel-restaurant in Costa Rica,Igloo beach Lodge in partnership with famed vegan Chef Matthew Kenny, running the f&b department. Lamia Is planning on expanding her hotel business in Costa Rica before taking her concept internationally. She's currently building her second hotel in Costa Rica called Casa Lamia.
